Hello Again — Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself

My name is Nora — and I’m sooooooo happy to be back!

First off, let me just say: life is good. Honestly, I didn’t think I’d ever get back to writing like this again, but here we are. It’s September 2020, I just turned 27, and wow... there’s so much I’ve learned.

A Life Update

Let’s start with the biggest change — I’m no longer living in Virginia. Two years ago, I moved to Canada. It wasn’t entirely my decision, and it was one of the hardest transitions I’ve ever made. Packing up my entire life — my job, my friends, my space, my family — and stepping into the unknown was overwhelming. But in hindsight, it was for the best.

Now, I live in Québec with my cousin, niece, and nephew. I’m currently studying administration, and even though the pandemic extended my semester until next May, I’m determined to finish strong. I’m also learning a whole new language, which hasn’t been easy, but I’m incredibly proud of myself for pushing through. This will be my first diploma since high school, and I’ve leaned on God every step of the way — especially when everything felt like it was working against me.

What’s Up With the Blog?

When I moved to Canada, I lost touch with all the connections I’d made — photographers, videographers, bloggers, content creators. Things and Thoughts had been like my baby. It brought me joy, peace, and was a form of therapy. Though I stopped publishing, I never stopped writing.

So, What’s Next?

If 2020 taught me anything, it’s this: be still and trust that God is in control. Making plans in the middle of a pandemic hasn’t been easy — lockdowns, delays, uncertainty. But I’ve got dreams that go beyond blogging. I want to:

  • Launch my photography website

  • Travel more — even if it’s just a 30-minute drive or a plane ride

  • Keep creating in ways that bring joy to me and those around me

Most of all, I’m grateful. Grateful to be alive, grateful for the people who love and support me, and grateful for this space to start again.

If there’s one thing you take from this post, let it be this: stay safe, take care of yourself, and wear a damn mask!
